Welcome to the monthly Punch Art section of TSIN.  My name is Jenna Beegle, known to some as Scrap Lady, and I'll be responsible for most of the ideas you'll be seeing here each month.  Each month, we'll change the theme of the punch art so there's always something new.  But don't worry - the old ideas will always be available in TSIN's archive.  If you use any of these ideas in your own books, we'd love to see your pages.  Submit them and Jennia will get them up here to share with the other scrappers.  And we'll also have other punch artists contributing their ideas.  I think this is going to be a lot of fun!

Note from Jennia Hart: Be sure to keep an eye out for the new Hot Off the Press Book "Making Wonderful Scrapbook Pages" which Jenna contributed to. Also serious punch artists will want to take a look at Jenna's Way Cool Punch Machine

Remember, if you use any of these ideas, or if you have any ideas you'd like to share, send them in. We'd love to show them off.

This month your questions answered......

Hi,

I know you must get alot of mail, so I'll keep this simple! I love scrapbooking and I'm tired of cutting out all these shapes! I want to purchase some punches and wonder what you recommend to get started? Where is the best place to purchase punches when there is no Scrapbook supply store around, only a Michael's and Hobby Lobby which both carry only a limited supply?

Thanks,

Rexann

It kind of depends what kind of punch art you'll be doing. If you think it will be flowers, then I'd say a circle, medium or jumbo, a small circle, a large or small scalloped flower, a large or small sun, some kind of leaf in the same size you've been doing and a spiral. I say small or large, because you can best judge what size you will use yourself. The sizes can always be combined later. But with those you'll be able to make lots of different flowers and lots of other things. In fact, if you want a more general list, I'd still say the circles, the sun, a leaf of some kind and then add a heart and a balloon. Lots of people use snowflakes, but I personally don't.

Have you seen any of the punch art books. Out of the big three that are out there now, I personally like Punchin' by Design Originals, Punch Your Art Out and Punch Happy, in that order. But they are all wonderful.

Jenna
