Working Independently as a Scrapbooking Consultant

Of course this option has the obvious benefits of truly being your own boss and not having to follow any rules. However, this option also has at least two big drawbacks:

1) It does not provide any training

2) It does not provide any income from downline consultants. Your income is limited by the number of classes and workshops that you can personally conduct.

If you plan to pursue this option I would recommend that you find a wholesale company that can provide scrapbook supplies from a variety of sources, so that you do not have to open multiple vendor accounts with multiple minimum orders. Family Treasures, Crafter's Toy Box and Imagine That are companies that can provide wholesale scrapbook products after you have obtained a resale tax ID number.

I would recommend that you purchase two books: An Ounce of Prevention by Craig Tuttle and The Care And Permanence of Color Photographs by Henry Wilhelm to give you a good overview of photo preservation. A background in direct sales would be helpful. The Scrapbooking Idea Network offers retailers support in the form of a discussion area and a retailers Listserve.
