Border Art
Borders are a great way to jazz up a page quickly. They are especially good for beginners and as Make And Takes*. Remember that you can make the border on the scrapbook page or from a  2 inch or 3 inch strip of paper in a contrasting color. Let the number of photos that you have of an event determine how large you make your border art.

Baby Page one- Suzy's Zoo Stickers were used and 2 sheets of pastel patterned paper was used for matting.

Baby Page two- 2 modules of Frances Meyers stickers were combined for this border page.

A Mom's Job Is Never Done was made entirely of Mrs. Grossman stickers. Seven different modules were used to create the "mess" around the furniture. If you choose to create this page you may wish to add items that are unique to your family in place of the items that were used in this example. Letter stickers by Making Memories.

Swimming (this page was inspired by Gretchen's sticker art.) Letters by Making Memories. All other stickers are Mrs. Grossman.

Soccer Border- Letters by Making Memories all other stickers by Mrs. Grossman.

Birthday borders- Letters by Making Memories. All other stickers by Mrs. Grossman. These examples show how you can use borders as modules for creating pages. This gives you the option of making borders in advance and creating a page later. This modular approach to scrapbooking is good for those who are short on time.

Punch Art Borders

Cinco De Mayo was created with a Frances Meyer lettering template and a ZIG Black Opaque pen. A large circle punch was used to make the taco shell. The taco shell was then cut with one side being slightly more than half of the circle and one side being less than half of a circle. A small circle punch was used to make some red tomatoes. Brown and green paper was punched with the circle punch and then trimmed with deckle scissors to look like lettuce and taco meat. ( a Ripple scissor would work as well.)

Paper Lace borders were made by lining up the lace corner punch by Family Treasures. The technique is explained in detail here.

The grapes were made using the small circle punch and two colors of purple paper. The oak leaf punch was used for the grape leaves. A green ZIG Opaque pen was used for the swirl that is located in between the bunches of grapes.

The frame with a sun in the four corners was made by taking a piece of dark blue 12 x 12 cardstock and cutting it into 1" strips. These strips were then used to frame the page. A sun punch was placed in each of the four corners.

The tropical page was started in the same manner as the sun page above. Then a piece of light blue paper was cut into 1" strips. Each strip was then cut with a decorative scissor to get the wave effect. The pineapples were made by punching a pineapple punch in yellow and green and trimming away the bottom of the green pineapple punch piece and then gluing it onto the yellow pineapple. The fish and seashells were simply fish and seashell punches. All of the pieces were punched and assembled one side at a time.

The strawberry corner was made with the heart punch and the small star as the stem. A Border Buddy was used to trace a wavy line onto green cardstock. A ZIG Millennium pen was used to make seeds on the strawberries.

The strawberry border was made with the heart punch but this time I punched a heart out of red and black. I used the micro-circle punch to punch through the red so that the black showed through to look like the seeds. I also glued the black heart slightly to the side of the red so that the black would look like a shadow.  The small sun was used as the stem for the strawberries. The Border Buddy was used to trace a wavy line onto green cardstock for the green vine.

Easter Borders

These borders are ready for you to add titles with your pens or with stickers. Making Memories, Frances Meyers and Creative Memories all make great sticker letters that will enhance these borders. another option is to add your titles with rubber stamps. DOTS and Stampin' Up both feature some great A-Z stamp sets that will allow you to add titles over and over again in any color ink you want. (I use and recommend Color Box/ Clearsnap archival inks for stamping.)

All four Easter designs were made with Mrs. Grossman's stickers and Designlines. If you need Mrs. Grossman's stickers be sure to check out the Sticker Corner int he scrapbooking mall.

Thanksgiving or Fall Borders

"Thanksgiving Dinner" was made with a module of fall leaves and two stripes from a Designline all from Mrs. Grossman.

"FALL" was made with a DOTS Stamp and a chalk palette that is also available from DOTS demonstrators. The stripes are Designlines and the leaf module are all from Mrs. Grossmans. HINT: Remove the leaves fromt heir backing and place on directly on the stripes while the stripes are still on their backing. Make sure to place leaves randomly but to cover as many of the stripes as you wish to transfer to your scrapbook page. I only used the 4 middle stripes and left the 2 outer stripes for other borders. Byusing this method you will be able to get all four stripes straight on your scrapbook page.
